Nigiiwe | Going home
youth camps
“Going home | Nigiiwe” refers to the ways in which culture and our access to it provides us with the possibility to return home to ourselves, our community, and our Indigeneity. By embracing and celebrating their cultural heritage, Indigenous youth are empowered to navigate the complexities of modern life while staying grounded in their ancestral knowledge and values. The title encapsulates the profound significance of culture in guiding Indigenous youth back to their roots, both personally and communally. It embodies the journey of rediscovery, where cultural practices and traditions serve as pathways for individuals to reconnect with their authentic selves, their communities, and their Indigenous identities. Through "Going home | Nigiiwe," we aim to facilitate this transformative journey of self-discovery and cultural reclamation, enabling Indigenous youth to forge a path forward that is rooted in strength, resilience, and cultural pride. NMKNS continues to champion this vital mission, ensuring that Indigenous youth have the resources and support they need to embark on their own journeys home, reclaiming their voices and shaping their own futures with confidence and purpose.
Through Life Promotion, we focus on fostering wellness and balance in mind, body, and spirit—honoring the sacredness of life itself. By integrating Indigenous teachings, we help individuals and communities strengthen their connections to culture, language, and identity. NMKNS centers Indigenous knowledge systems, helping others learn, preserve, and pass on the wisdom of our ancestors, while supporting future generations.
